ABOUT DYSPRAXIA/DCD IRELAND
Dyspraxia/DCD is Irelands national charity for children and adults
with Dyspraxia/DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder) and their
families. We work to:
Raise awareness and understanding of Dyspraxia/DCD in Ireland.
Advocate to ensure adequate resources are available to support the
needs of people with Dyspraxia/DCD.
Partner with education, training, and employment services to provide
further education and employment opportunities.
Lobby for improved diagnostic and intervention services for children
and adults.
Organise events and activities for people with Dyspraxia/DCD and their
families.

POSITION SUMMARY
Since January **Apply on the website** Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland and the
University of Limerick Occupational Therapy department have Partnered
in the development of a unique Occupational Therapy Telehealth Service
(POTTS) providing goal directed, task orientated and family centred
supports to children, youth, adults & families. The service also
provides essential clinical placement hours for Occupational Therapy
students through telehealth modalities that are highly effective and
cost efficient.
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a
full time occupational therapist who will work with the University of
Limerick and Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland in a dual role. The successful
applicant will oversee the telehealth placement component of
occupational therapy students at the University of Limerick on a part
time basis for approximately **Apply on the website** weeks per year.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Practice Education
team in OT in the University of Limerick and will liaise with other
departments in developing a multi-disciplinary approach to hybrid
placement models.? The post holder may contribute to research studies
and developments in the School and there will be opportunities for
them to further their own professional development. For the remaining

applicant will, in conjunction with other experts, work to develop and
deliver a new Occupational Therapy referral, assessment, intervention
and consultation programme for children, youth and adults with DCD.
This role will also require the post holder to participate in the
development of resources and educational materials for individuals
with DCD and for a range of allied health professionals and educators
working in this area.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* BSc in Occupational Therapy or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or
MSc in Occupational Therapy (Professional Qualification). Must be
eligible for registration on the Occupational Therapist?s register
(CORU)
* 6 months? full-time experience (or equivalent part-time) in
Occupational Therapy during the last 3 years
* Experience of working with children, youth or adults with DCD
* Experience of working with students in practice settings
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Creative problem solving skills
* Ability to work within a team and independently
* Excellent organizational and time management skills and the
ability to work in a self-directed manner in a very busy environment
* Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development
* Good IT skills
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Teaching qualification
* Experience or training in special education
* Post registration MSc qualification
* A good understanding of quality assurance
* Experience of telehealth delivery
* Experience in development & delivery of webinars or online
teaching
* Willing to travel for work purposes with a full clean driving
licence and use of a car
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ?
* Collaborate with the practice education team in UL to develop &
deliver an online student practice education placement for OT
students.
* Development of referral pathways and delivery of Occupational
Therapy services for children, youth and adults with DCD
* Undertake clinical assessment and diagnosis of dyspraxia for
clients of Dyspraxia/DCD Ireland
* Develop resources and educational materials to support the POTTS
programme
* Facilitation of OT students on clinical placement via online
services
* Development & delivery of online training for students, parents &
teachers
* Evaluation of therapeutic services
* Participate in the assessment of student performance in
collaboration with the UL practice education team
* To provide tutorial support and facilitate shared learning
experiences for students
* Contribute to ongoing feedback to students about their
performance, in conjunction with the Practice Educator(s). ?
* Attend and contribute to practice education workshops and training
days and attend any relevant committees organised by the university.

* Promote interprofessional learning across disciplines in health
care settings. ?
* Facilitate effective learning opportunities within practice
settings for therapy students.
